Stirling House IFAs are a group of Independent Financial Advisers who gathered together to become directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). It is true that they could have individually "gone it alone" or perhaps joined a Network; but the first is expensive, very time-consuming and onerous whereas the latter places a costly "middle man" into the equation. By joining forces, and pooling their resources, it became possible to "go direct" thereby sharing potential problems and removing the need for a Network and its associated costs. In fact, it was decided that this pooled resource, namely Stirling House Financial Services, would not need to make a profit at all. It simply needed to exist to support member IFAs behind the scenes (who would all chip in their "bit" to run things).
